Guide for Authors: Iranian Journal of Postharvest Biology

  1. A) Submission Checklist
  1. Select Article Type and Prepare Manuscript:
    • Research Articles (max. 5500 words)
    • Review Articles (max. 13000 words)
    • Minireviews (max. 5500 words)
    • Short Communications (max. 1000 words)
    • Video Articles (max. 100 MB)
    • Prepare your manuscript in English using the provided journal templates.
  2. Manuscript File Preparation:
    • Integrate all text, tables, figures, and schemes into a single Word file.
    • Embed figures and schemes as high-resolution images (300 dpi, .jpeg, .tif, .png).
    • Draw chemical structures using ChemDraw.
  3. Supplementary Information:
    • Upload supplementary information as a separate Word file.
    • Use descriptive file names (e.g., "Table S1 Data").
  4. Manuscript Submission:
    • Submit the manuscript and supplementary files via the "Submit Manuscript" section on the journal website.
  5. Cover Letter:
    • Upload a cover letter (Word file) highlighting the research's significance and novelty.
    • Suggest potential reviewers.
  6. Related Publications:
    • Disclose any related publications in the cover letter.
  1. B) Manuscript Content:
  1. Abstract: Maximum 220 words.
  2. Supplementary Information: Detailed experimental procedures and characterization data.
  3. Table of Contents Graphic: Image (5.5x5.0 cm or 11.5x2.5 cm) and text (max. 50 words/450 characters).
  4. Keywords: Alphabetical order.
  5. Reviews/Minireviews: Frontispiece image (18.5x18.5 cm), author biographies (70-100 words), and passport-style photos.
  6. Scientific Perspectives: Author biographies (70-100 words) and passport-style photos of corresponding authors.

Please ensure to submit your manuscript in the specified format and template.

  1. C) About the Journal

The Iranian Journal of Postharvest Biology is published by the University of Qom. It focuses on postharvest biology and technology of horticultural products. The journal is published quarterly, both in print and online. Articles are available online two weeks before print publication. Submissions must be in British or American English. Cite the journal as "Iran. J. Postharvest Biol.". Queries: [IJPB@qom.ac.ir OR p.malekzadeh@qom.ac.ir]

  1. D) Editorial Evaluation and Peer Review

Initial editor evaluation for scope and quality. Suitable manuscripts undergo peer review. Unsuitable manuscripts are returned. Reviewers are selected by the editor, and their identities are confidential. Decisions are based on reviewer feedback and editor judgment. Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated.

  • Research Articles: Experimental or theoretical investigations.
  • Review Articles: In-depth coverage of relevant topics.
  • Minireviews: Concise reviews of current topics.
  • Scientific Perspectives: Expert insights on concepts and techniques.
  • Video Articles: Video demonstrations of research methods.
  • Short Communications: Brief reports of significant findings.
  1. F) Manuscript Preparation

Submit manuscripts via the online system. Use journal templates. ORCID IDs are recommended.

  1. G) Experimental Data

Detailed experimental methods and characterization data in supplementary information. Use systematic compound names. Provide physical data in a standard format.

  1. H) References

Format: Author, Author, Author, Journal Title, Year, Volume, Pages.

  1. I) Ethics and Legal Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for the integrity of their work. Violations include plagiarism and false claims. Manuscripts are checked for plagiarism. Authors must meet authorship criteria. Cite relevant work.

  • Funding: Disclose funding sources.
  • Animal/Human Studies: Follow ethical guidelines.
  • Safety: Report experimental hazards.
  • Image Editing: Disclose all digital image modifications.
  • Conflict of Interest: Declare any conflicts.
  • Graphics: Ensure copyright compliance. Use ChemDraw for chemical structures.

  • Entering the Orcid code for authors is mandatory. To obtain this code, please proceed through the following link: https://orcid.org/register

     

    • The number of authors for articles should not exceed three.
    • The names of the authors must be entered accurately in the system. According to the journal, only the names registered in the system will be recognized as the author or authors of the article. Furthermore, adding authors' names after the submission and acceptance of the article will not be possible, neither in the system nor in the author information file. Before the review results are determined, if all authors agree and consent, it will be possible to remove the names of some authors.
    • For articles derived from theses, the student will be the first author, and the supervising professor will be the corresponding author.
